Kidney Cancer Advocacy Days
Spring 2023
In 2016, Congress allocated $0 in funding dedicated to kidney cancer research. Through the power of advocacy, we have raised that number to $235 million in six years.
We need YOU to keep this funding in place. Please plan to join our grassroots army on March 13-14 for our spring Advocacy Days event, where we ask Congress to continue funding lifesaving research for kidney cancer patients.
New in 2023: A Hybrid Event!
Spring Advocacy Days will be a two-day hybrid event, including both in-person meetings in Washington, DC, on March 13th, and virtual meetings conducted via Zoom on March 14th.
If you are interested in attending the targeted in-person meetings in DC on March 13th, contact our Legislative Patient Advocate, Deb Beyhan, at [email protected] for more information. Funding is available for in-person advocates.
If you would like to advocate in virtual meetings on March 14th, register using the form below. All are welcome to advocate with us on March 14th, including those who attend in-person meetings on March 13th.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
All patients, families, caregivers, friends, and medical professionals welcome. Most advocates will meet virtually with their representatives and Congressional staff in their home districts to ask for research funding.
We provide training with Advocacy 101, a detailed guide to help you know what to expect and how to talk to your representatives about kidney cancer research funding. You will receive a meeting schedule, talking points, scripts you can use if you would like, and leave-behind documents.
The full agenda is listed below. Please see the additional information regarding training sessions. If you have any questions, please reach out! We welcome anyone with a passion for accelerating cures for kidney cancer. Contact our Legislative Patient Advocate, Debra Beyhan, at [email protected].

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, who said in 1966: "Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and the most inhuman because it often results in physical death." He was speaking at the Medical Committee for Human Rights annual meeting in Chicago.
The mission of KidneyCAN is to accelerate cures for kidney cancer. We believe that means accelerating cures for everyone through a commitment to practices that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. Here's to continued antiracist work that addresses systemic inequities in health care, including access to clinical trials.

Season of Inspiration! We asked our community to share what inspires them on hard days.
Bill says, "Knowing that kidney cancer can return at any time reminds me that part of each day must be spent doing something joyful. In the many years since diagnosis, I’ve found that supporting animal adoption brings happiness to many people."
Love this! Do something JOYFUL every day.
