HOW TO SUPPORT KIDNEYCAN

KidneyCAN is the voice of patients, caregivers, doctors, and researchers. We advocate year-round for federal funding for research. With your support, our community is accelerating cures for kidney cancer.

Our work has led to $185 million research dollars since 2016; however, KidneyCAN is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and does not receive any funding through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) or KCRP (Kidney Cancer Research Program).

Our work never stops or slows down. With the support of our donors, KidneyCAN makes a difference every day in the lives of people affected by kidney cancer.

Fundraise Your Way

We want to make fundraising easy for you. Start with an idea, and use the resources we’ve provided here to make your fundraiser a success! Our team is here to help if you need us.

Get inspired, then get started!

CELEBRATE MILESTONES

Create a fundraiser to celebrate a loved one, a birthday, a special milestone in your cancer journey.

HONOR & REMEMBER

Acknowledge a special survivor, or create a memorial fundraiser to pay tribute to your loved one.

HEALTH & FITNESS

Create a fitness challenge, a fun run, or a local walk to raise awareness and funds for research.

MAKE IT A FUN-RAISER

Create a fun event that incoporates a hobby you love: a bowl-a-thon, a fishing competiton, a bake-off, a game night.

DON'T FORGET FIDO

Dogs are family too!  Create an event to include man’s best friend, like Yappy Hour or Fun Run with Fido in the park.

RAISE AWARENESS & FUNDS

Create an annual educational event for the month of March in honor of Kidney Cancer Awareness Month.

Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”

Get creative, and know that your efforts make an enormous impact on those living with kidney cancer!

Additional Resources to Support KidneyCAN

SHOPRAISE

Whether it’s shopping for daily essentials like groceries, buying furniture for your home office, or even booking your next trip, the ShopRaise app lets you shop for your cause. Now you can turn your everyday shopping into support for your favorite cause all at no additional cost to you.

RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS ON FACEBOOK

Set up a dedicated fundraising page to share your story, tell others about your mission and rally around your fundraising goal. A Facebook birthday fundraiser is an easy way to support KidneyCAN! Facebook charges no fees to donations made to non-profits.

GIFTS OF STOCK

If you have stock that you’ve owned for more than a year, check with your financial advisor to see if giving stock will provide you with greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer to KidneyCAN or email us for further information.

ONE-TIME OR A SUSTAINING DONATION

Your contribution matters in the fight against kidney cancer! Your donation helps to fund programs that support our mission to advocate and fund cutting-edge research. You may make a one-time donation or set-up a recurring gift to help further our work.

MATCHING GIFTS

Double your donation! Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift! Click the link to check if your Company participates.

WORKPLACE GIVING

Are you a business owner or part of a company that would like to extend your donations through Workplace Giving? See how both KidneyCAN and your company and employees can benefit through a workplace giving program. Read more about this and contact us if you’d like to set up a Workplace Giving program in your company to benefit kidney cancer research.

Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 with a simple idea: setting aside one day specifically for doing good. It’s held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. In the last decade, nonprofits around the world have organized giving campaigns on this day to help their supporters understand their needs and make an impact through giving.

We at KidneyCAN use Giving Tuesday as an annual opportunity to raise awareness for kidney cancer. We know that makin progress toward cures depends on the generosity of our supporters, and we spend the day providing education and support for patients and caregivers.

If you would like to organize a Giving Tuesday campaign to support KidneyCAN, please let us know! We’d be happy to provide you with resources and information to get started.

Join Our Grassroots Army

We know that awareness of kidney cancer and its impact on many lives leads to a sense of urgency, a desire for solutions. Awareness leads to advocacy, and advocacy — joining to speak as one voice — leads to funding and research. That’s how we get to cures.

🇺🇸 Honoring Heroes on Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, on #MemorialDay, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. We pay tribute to their courage, dedication, and selflessness in defending our freedoms.

As we commemorate this day, it is essential to recognize that many service-related deaths result from diseases, specifically #kidneycancer, linked to exposures during military service. We stand with our veterans and their families, offering support and resources to navigate their healthcare journeys.

Visit our Kidney Cancer and the Military page in the Patient Resource Center, where we share powerful stories from veterans affected by cancer due to exposure while serving. These stories highlight the significance of the recently passed PACT Act, which provides recognition, validation, and medical aid for service-related chemical injuries.

https://bit.ly/MiltaryandKidneyCancer

Today, let us honor our fallen heroes and also support our living heroes by ensuring they receive the care and benefits they deserve. Together, we can continue to advocate for improved healthcare access and research advancements, while standing in solidarity with our military community.
