KidneyCAN is proud to open registration for the 3rd Annual Kidney Cancer Research Summit. KCRS is a meeting focused on basic, translational, and clinical kidney cancer research. This meeting is fueled by the ideas and research funded through the Department of Defense CDMRP-KCRP awards.

The goal for KCRS is to present the important, innovative research funded by the KCRP. We also aim to connect researchers from around the world to share their work.

Join us on October 7 and 8 for this dynamic, interactive meeting focused on the latest basic science, translational, and clinical research in kidney cancer.

It’s one of the most exciting things I’ve ever participated in. We’re bringing together clinicians, physician scientists, and bench scientists to talk about kidney cancer research. The goal is to invigorate the science and spur breakthroughs.

Dr. Hans Hammers, UTSW

Kidney cancer can occur in various forms, with the most common type being renal cell carcinoma (#RCC), which itself is categorized into several subtypes. The main subtypes of RCC include clear cell RCC, papillary RCC (which has two subtypes: type 1 and type 2), chromophobe RCC, and collecting duct RCC. There are also less common types of #KidneyCancer, such as medullary carcinoma, mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma, and neuroblastoma-associated RCC.

Understanding your specific diagnosis is key to building the right care team. Unfortunately, according to a survey conducted by the International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC), many patients leave their first appointments without a clear understanding of their diagnosis.

Our Patient Resource Center can help you make sense of the different types of kidney cancer and the specialists who will treat your condition. Check it out at www.kidneycan.org.
