We are winding down #WorldKidneyCancerDay in the United States, but you still have more opportunities to learn about #clinicaltrials as a treatment option for #kidneycancer.
Plan to join us on July 19th for this free webinar featuring two leading #kidneycancer researchers. We will discuss the basics of the clinical trial process and why trial participation can make sense anywhere along your treatment journey.

Many patients are surprised to be offered a #clinicaltrial as an option for their first treatment for #kidneycancer. At large cancer centers, you may be offered a trial for any needed treatment change. Your oncologist may even suggest travel so you can access a new therapy years before it is FDA-approved.
Clinical trials are how we make progress in our mission to #acceleratecures for kidney cancer. It is a myth that trials are only for patients seeking a last resort.
We hope you have found our #WorldKidneyCancerDay resources helpful, and we really hope you'll use them to have a conversation with your care team about your treatment options.

Depending on your #kidneycancer type, its stage, and your quality of life priorities, a range of treatment options may be available to you. Studies show the best outcomes are when patients and doctors make treatment decisions together. But currently, not enough conversations are happening.
That's why the theme for this year's #WorldKidneyCancerDay is "We need to talk about treatment options."

Studies show patients and their doctors don't talk nearly enough about treatment options -- including access to clinical trials -- and that better conversations and shared decision-making lead to better treatment options with fewer side effects.
On #WorldKidneyCancerDay, we want to share resources to help you learn about clinical trials and treatment options for #kidneycancer.

On #WorldKidneyCancerDay, KidneyCAN wants you to know how important it is to discuss your treatment options with your doctor. On July 19th, we're hosting a Town Hall event for patients and caregivers to learn about clinical trials as a treatment option at any point in your care for cancer. Join us to learn the basics of the clinical trial process and why trial participation can make sense anywhere along your treatment journey. Consents, endpoints, patient rights, and how trial participation affects your clinical care are all part of this discussion with two leading clinical investigators.

#WKCD #acceleratingcures
Studies show kidney cancer patients and their doctors aren't currently having the conversations they should be about kidney cancer treatment options, including access to clinical trials. And treatment outcomes are sometimes compromised as a result.
Sometimes its because patients don't feel they can question their doctors. Other times its because doctors don't want to overwhelm their patients, or their appointments are too short.
That's why the theme for World Kidney Cancer Day 2022 is "We need to talk about treatment options." The International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC) has created a downloadable PDF of the six questions every kidney cancer patient should feel able to ask their cancer care team.
